Participation in a Training Course in Split: A Source of Inspiration for Educators
This summer, I had the privilege of taking part in a unique training course held in the beautiful Croatian city of Split. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was not only a place of learning for me, but also a true source of new ideas for both professional and personal growth. The training was organized by Novucenter OÜ as part of an Erasmus+ accredited program. The course focused on stress management and the prevention of professional burnout.
The training program covered the following key aspects:
Recognizing stress triggers and their impact on learning ability and teaching;
Learning techniques of meditation, mindfulness, and deep relaxation;
Practicing outdoor yoga exercises to reduce stress and improve well-being;
Exploring practical stress management methods that are easy to integrate into everyday life.
The training sessions were held in some of the most beautiful locations in and around Split. One of the most memorable days was exploring the historic city center. Under the guidance of educator Dario Čaljkušić, we examined the city’s architecture and culture while applying outdoor learning principles. Dario created a safe and inspiring environment where participants could explore both their conscious and subconscious minds, diving deep into self-reflection.
Special attention was given to conducting activities outdoors. One day was spent in the Marjan Forest Park – a protected area atop a hill with breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea. There, our second educator, Nikola Drviš, led a mindfulness and yoga practice session. We learned how to observe nature, find inner balance, and strengthen our connection with the world around us. These exercises reminded us how important it is to consider the emotional state of both educators and students in the educational process.
This training was a true discovery for me. It not only enriched my professional skills but also reminded me of the importance of balance between nature and education. Split has left a lasting impression on my heart, allowing me to draw from each learning moment in my everyday life. The inspiration that came from the outdoor activities sparked new ideas that can be applied in adult learning groups.
The experience of outdoor learning was a strong reminder that it is not only beneficial but essential for maintaining the emotional and physical well-being of both educators and learners. I am happy to share this experience in my practice and spread its value to colleagues and students alike
